Engine sound & idle speed after a service

Post by kefty »

After getting my 1.9 86 DG back from service the engine sounds smoother and runs better. On the downside the tickover speed when hot seems a lot quicker than before. Can anyone explain this? I have new plugs, air & fuel filters, coolant etc. It dosent cut out now when on choke. I just seem to think it could be set slower to save on fuel - its much quicker than before. Any ideas on why I have a whooshy sound now when I accelerate away? This message may read very odd but the engine sound is so different.

might be the nice clean airfilter, or the fuel filter being new might be letting more fuel through

-the correct tickover speed is about 900rpm which is faster than most

I think if it 900 now then it must have been 500 before, if thats possible? Confused.
