I thought they all normally came with 3 belts in the back, 1 on the cooker side and 2 on the shower side, all the ones I've ever seen have belts.
The mountings are in the under seat cupboards, when you take the seat cushions off there should be some cutouts in the wood seat base where it meets the wall, that is where the belts should come through.

Is yours Aircooled or watercooled?

mines an '88 td but weird that yours has no belts, just checked and according to the sales literature they all left karmann with 3 seat belts in the back.

In the cooker side seat unit, lift the lid and look in facing the window, at the back left is the black metal seat support looking like an upside down V, at the top of this is a metal strip that runs under the length of the seat next to the wall, on this should be the mountings for the seatbelt.

Digi camera not here today but will have tomorrow
