Thanks Old One.starter issues fixed

Now we continue with the adventure......2.00 ltr CU engine not run since just before Xmas.all new plugs, leads, dizzy cap, rotor arm, air filter, fuel filter the works only done about 250 miles since they were all fitted

Got it started thanks to Old One, now I have the problem of back firing, cutting out at traffic lights, lumpy running at slow speeds, jerky(30/40 mph)
Runs nice at 55/60 (smooth)

I have checked all pipes and connections, all accounted for, fuel filter clean

Stuck to say the least....It's got me baffled

Anyone got ideas.....Please, I miss driving it

Hi chap,
I don't know much (hopefully someone else can help) but have you double checked leads from dizzy to plugs, making sure they are fitted to correct sequence? :?

No hissing..I replaced all these pipes when i bought the van...along with replacement second hand carbs (in excellent condition)
I've had the van since Oct....Did quite a lot of work for MOT including getting the engine running right...I've olny covered around 250 miles since I've had it all done

What have you done when sorting out the starter? Or was it acting up before starter problems?

Put a new earth strap on........problems I remember before I laid it up on the last run were just very slow starter on hot start up..eventually fired got me home (Nantwich) from Southport without any problems no miss-fire etc.

Will give the dizzy cap a wipe over & spray with the old WD40 see if that helps

I agree with Mocki.. Some air getting in somewhere.
To check Vac advance,.. remove pipe from manifold remove Dist Cap.. suck on pipe, you should see something move inside the Dist
Health has now stopped me camping Etc.
