Metal Water Pipe round top of Engine Bay

Post by KurzalFlyer »

On the metal water pipe round top of engine bay, have spung a leak in one section, other areas very rusted so looks like the whole lot will need to be replaced.

What's the thing called, and where best to get one?

Just a thought, any mileage in using the copper micro-bore piping they used to use for some central heating systems, not sure whether it's any cheaper but might be easier to get hold of locally.

Appreciate you advices.

Cheers

order this from your nearest VW van main dealer-its called the distribution pipe--take your chassis no to imput on his computer to bring up correct model you will need to look on the screen to spot it as the partsboy will probably know nought about T25s--the new pipe will be plastic--
Billy...Defected to white box but still lurking.

Gsf occasionally have them! but you could use copper if you wanted! TBH they are not alot and it would possibly cost more to make out of copper!

it is not adviseable to introduce coper pipe into the sytem as being top of the electromotive scale it causes everything else to corrode worse than they already do, different alloys and metals in a system with a fluid and part of the electrical system is a recipe for corrosion. Hopefully the few bits of brass in the system are dezincified to reduce the potential for anode/cathode reaction with the steel and other alloys.
