Looks briliant! I guess you'll be seeing the Dakar pass by sometime soon... VWs to the fore!

PS Us lesser mortals can get a very dilute version of this in southern Spain. The Sierra Nevada is fantastic!

So does anyone fancy a little trip later in the year???

Was thinking that 2wd's would be welcome also as the coastal areas or Morroco are quite good, but it would mean splitting up for some off road action.. My mate wants to go in his T4 for the surf....

any thoughts? any interested parties?

The Sierra Nevada is fantastic!

Good tip Trundler, will check that out as practice run, before going for the big one (The Gobi Desert no roads, no water, no nothing) :)

It looks as if it could do with some of the rain we be having lately but I'm not envious at all - it's only sand.

I do Si, but I'd want my van spot on, don't want to be the 'problem'

I'm screwed til end of June, Glastonbury / festival season etc

I've been thinking of heading North, maybe Finland / Norway etc. iceland would me a mad mad trek but the ferry prices sheesh . .£1200 is the cheapest I can find anywhere

Dunno, up for suggestions.. can do a bit in France on the way down (can use my place as a stopover etc..)
Would like to go see a bit of the Dakar but generally have a good time in some wilderness..

I would like to do Finland/Sweden up to the arctic circle, but thats a summer/autumn type job...

Could head east... Mongolia anyone?

anywhere north or even east Autumn would be the latest to travel really, south could be done in the winter

Yep Andy.. vehicle would have to be "spot on", wouldnt want to get stranded/leave a vehicle, although you can never account for everything..
I shall be spending quite a bit in the next few months getting mine mech right.

Yep, Scandinavia has been in my mind too. I have a big tour up the west coast of Norway to the Nordkapp, then back down through Finland and across into Sweden. They are big countries with slow roads though, so 3 weeks would be absolute minimum. Can I afford that long off work in one chunk?? :?
