Went to start up the van and take it for a run, its not move for over a month after having the starter motor replaced. Turns over just about, so me thinks battery needs some juice. Question is, should I just buy a charger or a new battery as I don't know how old the battery is.
Better to trickle charge than bump/jump - the shock of movement and fast charging can destroy a really flat battery. Expect a new one to be needed fairly soon whatever.
Why does the not quite finished job before last always conspire with the not quite started job after next to make what you should be doing now harder?
Did you have the starter bush changed at the same time as the starter?
I have done two in the last 2 weeks and the difference in starting is like the difference in a flat battery and one that has just come off charge.
Oh and it is much easier to do than people leed you to believe.
I think you will find that the deisel starter has a bearing at both ends so they do not have the press in bush on the gearbox. I suggest you clean all the earths and the power lines to the starter.
