Propane gas?
Today i took the butane gas bottle out of my van, and replaced it with a propane (red) one.
I have done this so i can use my propex heater when it gets to freezing point,as the butane is likely to freeze.
I just want to know is it ok to use propane all year round, and is there a difference in performance between the two gases?
If not i will just use propane all the time from now on even in the summer months.
Regards Lee.

yep propane is the way to go, plus only one basic type of regulator.

Lee, if you have replaced your butane gas bottle with a propane one don't forget to fit a 37mb propane regulator as in Metalmick8y's post. Butane has a different regulator which iirc is set at 28mb.

Propane has a higher calorific value that butane, approx 850kj/kg more, so burns hotter. It makes sense as there's an extra CH3 group in every molecule. In fact when i run my heatsource 2000 on prop there's a definate increase in the heat output. This is the reason that propane is used as household gas and you see all mobile caterers using propane bottles instead of butane.
