Aiden (Beaker) may have some in stock for petrol, not both though. Diesel may be slightly different to petrol I'd need to check, anyone else know? Basically there is a Hose I tracked down that would do the job. BUT it only comes in a minimum order of 30M i think would go from tree to rad so no silly metal inserts and as its flexible installation would be simpler in some respects. It is marginally wider than the stock pipe which may require "adjustments" to the chassis for it to fit.
If you click on search and put deegee19 in on find by author you'll find some useful info on the replacement pipes I did on my '85 petrol DG.
I replaced the metal ones with the plastic pipes from JK which were 6mm bigger in diameter and opted to buy the reducers which are not that cheap, I paid about 12-15 quid each.the JK ones are a little longer and as a result of putting on the reducers
I had to cut about 6 inches off the front rad hose to get it to line up straight. Also had to cut and expand the cross beam behind the tank as the reworking of the water/heater pipes didn't quite work for me, bit tight due to the bigger bore of the plastic pipes.
My metal pipes were half good and half bad. A quicker and cheaper fix is to cut out the bad section and put in rad hose, a bit unsightly maybe but it keeps you on the road.
That thread about buying 30 foot of hose sounds good, you'll need a good 20 foot of that.
What with the juice to get down to JK and pick up the pipes, price of the pipes, reducers, clips, garage time at my local vw spannerman etc it cost me the best part of 350-400 to do it.
If the pipes were hammerited from the start there'd be alot more happy wedge drivers out there!
I have replaced the steel pipes on my 1984 camper twice. Never again!
Next time I will spend the extra time and fit some plastic ones I have waiting, although if someone was to make stainless steel ones!! (America westfalia web site has some)
I believe the diesel pipes are different than the petrol and there are two types of cooling system for the DG engine. Mine is the earlier one with the thermostat at the rear of the engine and the plastic pipes will not fit this arrangement without some fiddling about.
Brand new pair of plastic pipes (OE VW) on Ebay at the moment, Essex area I think, search under "VW T25" and they are there somewhere, saw them earlier.
