How handy are you wth spanners?
If you are then this may be fixable.
If not get over to Baxters at Brickwerks - can recommend him.

Lost my gears when the slave cylinder seized.

Can you explain exactly what you can get and cannot, do you have first and will it let you pull away of have you lost all gears?

Lost Gears

Post by blurb55 »

well that sounds a little more than a cylinder sticking.
It will select all gears when stationary?

That sounds internal, broken syncro hub or broken linkage.

Hi back from getting small kids to bed.
If its is gear specific is does sound internal - a linkage problem is likely to be less costly than an internal box problem.
This sounds as though you need to get it into a knowledgable garage for a look see.

Cosmic,
Try draining the gearbox oil, and check it for bronze coloured or steel metal fragments, also check the magnetic rod attached to the drain plug for metal chips/fragments when you remove it, sure sign that something's broken inside if you find any unfortunately. mine had lots of little pieces of one of the roller bearings stuck to the magnet! which explained the rumbling noise i could hear. they're tricky to repair yourself, if it is bust, as you need special tools and a press to do it properly, best trying to find a good second hand one. best of luck with it mate.

I'd certainly have a look at the oil first agreed, as that amount of devastation would create a right pile of swarf

2/3 syncro broken I think from the sound of it, depending on how much broken looking at £500 plus mark unless you can source a second hand box as the parts for the repair are £300 plus.
Don't drive it if possible as any debris will do further damage.
