Sourcing a carb

just checked done a search for Carburettor and found some stuff.. but truth be told i'm a bit of an eidjit with this kind of nonsense... my carb is shagged.... there is a great tory about five hour wait in the dales on new years day, but thats for another day - now my friendly rac man told me that a breakers yard and anything from a golf would do as replacement - is this the case?

or is this all i need?

also would this be related to a probelm i had with the floater bein goosed and me conking out with a smell of petrol in the cab?

the Pierburg 2e3 is your carb it was used on a number of other vehicles. Weber do a replacement, for like £250.
