no heating...help please

Post by mrt »

happy new year folks
please excuse me if this sounds a ridiculous thing to ask but....
i have an 81 Aircooled t25 with no heating. i have all the pipes etc from the heat exchangers but dont know if i got the cables to the controls, should i be able to see them from underneath or are they hiding somewhere? Also someone said i could, in the meantime (before i can save my pennies to get it looked at properly), open the flaps to allow the hot air in and tie them up to keep them open (obviously untying them in the summer). was this beer talking or can it be done and if so where are the flaps located anyway? someone help please b4 i freeze to death

You can use cable ties to keep them open. If you look just over the top of your rear wheels you should be able to see them. Chances are the cables have rusted thru and snapped. Mine are tied back in the same way. The trouble with my heater is the terrible smell of noxious gasses and I'm not talking about wind, I need to replace the heat exchangers.
Have fun.
