Advice request-Immobiliser

Post by madmyk »

Hi guys, can anyone help please? In the present climate of van theft, and insurance costs, I am considering fitting an immobiliser. Can anyone recomend a quality supplier/fitter/system for a 1.6 TD 51Kw 1986 Westie Joker poptop. Any problems or comments?

Thanks chaps

I think Mr. Baxter has started doing Laserline alarms/immobiliser stuff, complete with all the paperwork for your insurance company.

He's always done quality work for me...

Just had exactly that done with my Westy. The guy works all over the country, he`s in demand everywhere :) the alarm is a Toad Ai606 which is Thatcham grade 1. He does a very neat job, respects the value of your motor, you can`t tell where he did the work on mine, it`s so well hidden and neat. Also fitted remote central locking at the same time so the alarm fob locks everything. (you will need a new rear lock mechanism for central locking, £35 from JK, PM for details of how to mod your sliding door lock to suit, it`s a five minute job and saves buying a central-locking type mechanism)

Ask for Barry. Give him a shout, I can really recommend him, and he knows exactly how/where to fit the stuff now, as he`s just done mine :)
Keep it real.

Look behind the fuse board, find the wire that leads to the fuel pump, bung a hidden switch in it and bobs ur uncle. Jobs a good un.

For an insurance discount you need the fitting certificate from an approved fitter.

I supply and fit Laserline alarms and immobilisers to Thatcham standards.
I supply the relevent documentation for insurance companies.
I have a decent amount of stock, although generally booked for a month or so in advance.
I have been fitting and using laserline for over 10 years and find them to be a very good product and very reliable.

Hi Westy could you give us an idea of the costs of your immobiliser and your central locking conversion ? My van is in bits at the mo but will start to look tempting to opportunists and drunks in the New Year...

cheers
