Anyone put a 16v motor into a T3?

Post by Mr Big »

Seeing as its looking likely i've cooked my 1.6D :( I am considering a GTi implant as the simplest cheapest method of upgrading the power. I have been offered a 16v GTi motor for peanuts. I know they can be a bit tight to fit, but seeing as its a single cab pickup theres a bit more room than in a van. Question is....has anyone done it before? I'm just looking for some info on the wiring and plumbing for the injection system.

Thanks all.
1985 1.6D Sika. MOT'd then boiled up within a week!!
1991 Golf GTi 8v.

Will sell or p/x the above for MOT'd camper/panel van.

Yes they fit, in my opion it will be cheaper to put in a 1.9td and it will be far better to drive, lots of low down power, the 16 valve engine is at its best a high revs which is ok in a golf but not good in a heavy van.
