Changing front brake discs

Post by Bendyknees »

Was checking over the van today. Noticed that that my front discs were wafer thin so they need changin asap. However i couldnt see where the hub and disc meet. Do you need to swap the bearings into the new disc assemberly or does the hub unbolt when the disc is remoed? Just want to get an idea of whats involved before i make a start.
Carlsberg dont do campers.......... but if they did they'd build the T25

The bearings are in the disc itself, not a bad idea changing them at the same time. If they have been changed recently though, drift them out the old discs and into the new ones. You are supposed to use a new peening nut too when reassembling.

Cheers,
Sam.

Yep bearings are fitted in the disc..
Not worth the hassle swapping them over IMHO, use a new set.. and a new nut..
Make sure you get the correct disc and bearings and seals.. there are early and late discs (change about 86/87) and early disc can have 2 different outers bearings, 80-85 and 85-86/87.
