To keep your gearing / speedo right you need 205/65/15 tyres and you should get the spare into the holder as everything will be the same size as the 205/70/14 tyre the VW alloys come with. Good luck with them and post a pic when youve got them on

Thanks guys the wheels will be with me in the morning, to be honest I havent got a clue on wheel size or gearing so your words of wisdom are great. By using the 205/65/15 this will be ok then ??? I sussed that I needed the 65/15 bit, but whats the 205 bit and how does it differ from say 195 or 185 (what part of the tyre is this) sorry if I sound as green as very freshly laid grass. Thanks again. Sherlock

The 205 bit is the tread width ie 205mm wide. The 15 bit is the rim diameter for the tyre and the 65 bit is the aspect ratio of the tyre, ie height Vs width (65% of 205mm). Clear as mud eh! Trust me on this you need a diameter of 650mm to keep the speedo right and if your rim is 7" wide then you need a 205 tyre. A 205/65/15 gives you 648mm which is good enough.Too many people go for a 205/60 (627mm or -3.5%) or 205/55 (606mm or -6.5%) tyre and all it does is lower the gearing and increase fuel consumption ( 2 - 3 mpg on a diesel) and increase wear and tear.
Have fun

Don`t forget to factor in wheel spacersto get suspension tower clearance, and also you may need extended length studs for the rear, and either extended length bolts for the front, or a better option is a stud conversion kit, so you can have common wheel nuts all round, also watch for what type of seats are needed on the nuts, there is radius type seat, and conical/taper type seat.

60mm drop - you need to watch the clearance at the front wheel arch.

All this info is available on the Brickyard, what fits, what you may need to machine/drill out etc etc :)
Keep it real.
