Headlights stoppped Working

Post by jody »

Started the Van up and tried the headlights but they don't turn on, neither does the instrument panel light. They were working fine this morning.

I have just had to mess with the windscreen washer switch mechanism to get it through the MOT..could this have anything to do with. It did mean taking of the steering rack casing???

Sorry to state the obvious but have you checked the fuses in the glovebox?

This just happend to my 2.1 GLI Caravelle. No dipped beam, however my side lights worked and both head and dipped worked when I used the flasher so I checked the Fuze - OK. Then Checked the wires at the back of the fuze box and found that one of the connectors showed signs of overheating and burning. At this point I booked it into a local Auto Electrical repair shop who confirmed that there was a problem with 2 connectors at the back of the fuze box. These I managed to get from Volksheaven, the workshop fixed the connectors then found that the ignition switch also needed changing. Now all is well and the lightes are also slightly brighter than b4. Hope this helps.
