Wiper Woes

Post by Poseidon »

I'm havinga few peoplems with my drivers side windscreen wiper. It seems that the wiper arm isn't staying locked to the shaft

When the wiper is on it moves up the windscreen then not all the way down. This gets progressivly worse till the wiper in right the way over to the right handside.
I suspect that the splines have become smoothed off.

How easy is this shaft to replace?
And also, does anyone have a used on?

I've just ordered the new part from JK.

Does anyone know how easy (or hard) this is to fit?

The motor is fine, it's the spindle that is worn where the wiper arm attaches.

Doesn't sound like much fun to remove the dashboard.. :(

Make sure you clean the splin's out as thy are made of a harder meatel than the arm's, and when the arms slip thy fill the spin's with ally.

Ok, I've just been out in my suit taking the wiper apart, the guys in the office were pi**ing themselves!
It is the wiper arm that is knackered and not the spindle. I used a small screwdriver to clean out the splines and hey presto! they were still there.
So I've managed to change the order for a new wiper arm!

Cheers for everyones help!!
