Disaster

Post by johnlampett »

My wife was driving the 2.1 Caravelle on the motorway and she said
suddenly the Revs increased and then their was no power .

The engine was running but not pulling away in any gear.

She also said the was a loud bang from the back after the revs increased.

I have not seen the van yet as it is been recovered by the ADAC

Anyone any ideas what I should look for ? or expect ?

sounds like driveshaft to me - could just be the bolts have worked loose and might just need a few bent/snapped ones replacing - got away with this when mine went last year - but at motorway speed, you may not be so lucky

Something similar happened to me on a Tranist van a few years ago and it was the flywheel that had sheared off the crank. A bang then a sudden increase in revs then nothing.
