Heres a turn up for the books. My T25 dash is stock - ie no dash tidy. Today I bought in my local £1 shop an anti-slip mat that fitted nicely (nay perfectly) on the large curved bit of the dash and on the way home tonight I put a 50p coin on it.
After corners on two wheels, speed bumps that made my teeth rattle. that 50p coin moved not one millimetre!
potentially useful, these non-skid mats - on the toilet floor (seemingly known as the LOO amongst the middle classes, but we're all that now? and as THE BOG to the more rumbustious (but we're all that now too aren't we?)
funny what moves where during the short seconds of emergency braking.
Nope - still there. It did actually move yesterday when I was pulling wheelies at the lights (must detune that engine or go back to plain old petrol).
The anti-slip mats I'm referiing to are not the mesh type. These are thin, black, about 10x8 and smooth but have a sightly tacky surface meaning you can chuck things on the dash and they basically sit there.
I put one on the dashpod, put my mobile phone on it and that never moved either!
Oh and before ChickenKoop (Rob) says anything, yes they WERE from the £1 shop!!!
It did cross my mind but could have been read either way that one.
Anyway today I'm off to Shewsbury (you try driving from Coventry and avoiding Brum!) and will be testing various objects placed upon these mats - for the scientific amongst you, and see how they hold up. I'm not having anyone say I didn't give 'em a full and thorough test!
Its at this time of year that I'm glad mines not an Aircooled and the heater fan works.....
Well nothin' moved on the dash. Various objects including a needle, a tissue box and that 50p coin. Trust me I've thrown that bus round every corner imaginable on the way back and oddly ended up in Small Heath cos I missed the A45 turnoff on that ruddy roundabout. Not one T25 there and back - just a snooty Type2.....what a day.
More to the point whose lorry was it on the M6 that had it brakes stuck on and caused the biggest tailback you've ever seen - ended up cutting through Dudley!
OK covkid are you up to the challenge ?? I say we use your bargain basement sticky thing and put it to the test. Any suggestions as to what he should give the slip/slide test to ? im starting the ball rolling with WAIT FOR IT.........A wheatabix...of course photos would be nice . Are you up for it punk ? are you ? are you ? (said in the voice of Mr C. Eastwood). Sherlock
The assault course has to be over a set route for consistency to make sure this experiment is under test conditions so I'll use the same distance in each case with a before and after photo. Part of the route has some serious speed humps (5 big ones) so I'll maintain a fixed speed over these.
