Gearbox Interchange?

I've asked this before, but no-one's come up with an answer yet.

Will a 4-speed box replace my seized 5-speed box on my 1982/3 1.6D without major hastle?

I need to know before buying a replacement.

im pretty sure going to 4 speed from 5speed shouldnt be a problem ,i think if it was the other way around then you would have trouble

just make sure the one you are buying is from the same model( early) and is from a derv, or you will be into changing input shafts, which isnt a big thing, but...........
