I've asked this before, but no-one's come up with an answer yet.
Will a 4-speed box replace my seized 5-speed box on my 1982/3 1.6D without major hastle?
I need to know before buying a replacement.
Cheers

erm tony, we did reply
just make sure the one you are buying is from the same model( early) and is from a derv, or you will be into changing input shafts, which isnt a big thing, but...........
hereWE wrote:i went from the 4 speed over to the 5 speed some years ago, never changed anything, although my 1st gear was through the reverse gate because i didnt change the gatebox under the stick, which i have still never done....... but it depends on the age of the van methinks, also turbo derv different anyway, but 5 to 4 shouldnt matter iirc...........................and ....................................................
im pretty sure going to 4 speed from 5speed shouldnt be a problem ,i think if it was the other way around then you would have trouble
