I'd guess a piece of piping/ducting has come adrift. Or is maybe blocked. I can't remember how easy it is to see under the dash without removing it, which is tricky, but can you trace the problem back to where things are still functional? i.e. the heater control levers, presumably. Try and feel where the forced air is coming from/going to. If you think blockage is a possibility (unlikely, I think) then maybe have a go with a vacuum cleaner nozzle, from the heater end first.
Another possibility is a split in a pipe somewhere

more likely the heater slider has become detached/snapped from the flap that it opens/closes awkward area to work in. trace back the wire from the ofending slider. May be an idea to leave open it manually to widscreen cos you can always can turn off driver and passenger at the outlets if need be.
