Westfalia pop top - leaky leaky - help and advice required!

Post by sivwjoker »

hi i have a 83 Westy have noticed everytime we have rain that water is appearing on the canvas right under the roof  about 10cm or so not soaking though. Rubber seals look fine - no holes in roof! how is the water getting through? does the roof lose its water resistance? or could this be a undected leak? your help would much appreciated,

thanks,

Simon.

Check the seal all the way round first, then check that they are sealing to the roof when it`s locked down, could be down to adjustment on the hinges, most likely seals though.
Keep it real.

look on the roof there are some recesses like built in channels, the water collects in these and goes in your seal.

Take it off (seal) clean all round the roof where seal goes with sandpaper make sure its completely dry and buy some clear silicone from B&Q fill the seal with it and put it back on.

I then built up more silicone from the roof to the top of the seal.
