Lovely day down here (drizzley rain) to be scratching around in the grease, muck & rust!

Have been needing to replace front off-side bearing since MOT (spring) & this afternoon I finally started.

Have got new bearing, seals & discs/pads to fit.

Just using the 'common sense' instruction manual (we're doomed!) I've unbolted this & that but I have a couple of questions.......

Do I just remove the 3 bolts next to the lower ball-joint, the 2 allen bolts at the top ball-joint, the steering arm ball-joint, the brake calipers, the big centre nut & then pull?

Will the steering arm ball-joint just knock upwards & out when bottom nut is removed?

Is the outer cv attached in any other way to the hub?

The little allen key bolt in the face of the hub has rounded off, any suggestions?

And finally...

Do these questions make any sense?

You will need to remove the hub-carrier to take it to the shop which will be pressing in/out the bearings.

Um, probably.

It is 'sealed' in place into the splines and will need some force to loosen it. The factory procedure used a big puller. Most people find a hammer is also required.

The one holding the disc in place ? I suppose the usual fastener-loosening tips apply. Plenty of plus-gas, try to tighten before loosening, try some heat, if you round it off try hammering a gash socket in/on and use that... If all else fails, I've found a modified chisel, and hammer, can be used to spin a stuck bolt. If none of above then drill it out.

Modified chisel or punch as Andy says - will have that disc-securing screw out in seconds flat. Wiki describes how to make one up easily:-

Bolt/screw punch

They are normally posidrive No. 2 or 3 I thought, but main thing is whatever the head, to get it out, the least of your troubles

Its got new driver side bearings, two new discs & pads.
