Water Tank

Post by rustyundchen »

Hi all,

Just bought my first T25 camper (1985, Caravelle) and I am trying to find my way around....... I don't think the couple I bought it off used it much for camping and with a new baby on the way decided it had to go.

I picked it up last weekend and drove it home in the driving rain which was an experience. Talk about being thrown in the deep end! I was briefly shown the features of the van but i think we are going to deck it out a bit neater. I looked at another one but didn't get it as I was outbid. It was simple in that one side had the petrol cap and the other side had an outlet for the water. In this new van I have no idea where it is? I have two outlets on the same side, one for petrol and one for electrical hook up. Can anyone offer me advice where I might find the inlet for the water and the waste tap? I think the water pump works ok under the sink but there is no water as I can't find the inlet. The meter registers no water.

In addition can I get a valve for the gas bottle that will tell me the pressure so I know how much is in the bottle?

Sorry for my ignorance but i am just learning and new to the scene.

Thanks in advance

Russell.

Hi,

All I know is its a 1985 VW Caravelle (1.9L water cooled) but unlike the other model I saw it has the units at the back of the van. So as u enter the side door and turn to the right you are faced with the gas hob and fridge on the left hand side and sink/dryer on the right hand side. At the very rear is just a parcel shelf. The sink has a power switch which I think turns on a water pump and also has a guage to indicate the water level. It has a high top but only two berth and you use the front seats along with others to make up the bed.

Thanks

Russell.

without pictures It would help if you can find out if it's a factory conversion ....or a home build.

generaly watertanks are slung under the van in the middle or tucked in the wardrobe..or even under the bed.
if you can hear the pump ..find it and follow any pipework!

Water, water anywhere?

Often the water pump is actually inside the tank at the end of the pipe that goes to the tap. Tracing the pipework as mentioned or wiring would be my line of attack.

Hi,

Thanks for the advice and at the weekend I will locate the pipework and work back. It's just so dark at the moment with working all day an all.

I don't know if it's a factory job or home build but the gas hob and fridge look like other vans I have seen as do the cupboards of which there are plenty. Sadly, there is no manual or old documentation to go with the vehicle which is a damm shame. I will take some more pictures to see what you guys think I have a few to attach now but they aren't probably the best but worth a go.

Can anyone tell me how to attach pictures? I have read the FAQs and it seems I need to paste them from a publicly accesible server. Does this mean like e.g. a homepage?

Many Thanks

Russell.

Looks quite well done if it's a home conversion.
It's a bit like mine, I also have bed at front and shower (no "pooh") fridge, cooker across the rear bulkhead, mine was converted by 'Autocruiser' but finish and layout of mine different enough for me to think they didn't do yours, mines on a C plate too...
