How do I tamper with the tamper-proof screw?

Post by stevewright76 »

I want to adjust the engine idle speed (which will hopefully help with LPG cutting out - it used to be much quicker...)

I know where the screw is and which way to turn it... (thanks to Haynes and the How to keep your air cooled alive* books) - but got no info on how to get the tamper proof screw cap off to get at the idle adjustment screw...

Tried a few pulls and pinches - no joy and ran out of time and patience... so, what's the magic technique?

Steve

How to keep your air-cooled alive - great book! :

If it's like the ones I took off my carbs ie a cap that wiggles around on the end of a bit of threaded bar then you just have to destroy it eg with wire cutters.

If idle speed is low, you may want to tweak the lpg idle setting up a fraction, this usually helps..
