Syncro Virgin
My first post so hello to all.
I have seen a Syncro Doka for sale and it looks good to me but i know nothing about them.Wonder if you could point me in the right direction as to the do/don'ts the good/bad.
It is a 1990 double cab pick-up with a 2.1 Fi engine,has f+r difflocks.
Previous Swedish railways owned so full VAG service records.
I think it has been a standard model, nothing like a Tri-star.And the previous owner has added a number of upgrades, don't know if thats a good thing.I have a few pictures but sorry don't know how to post them,i could forward(e-mail) them to someone if they are willing to put them up.
Good advice required.
Thanks
George

hi and welcome, have a look at the prospective owners bit on the wiki
https://club8090.co.uk/wiki/Ma ... ive_Owners
if you mail me the pictures I will put them up, h4cks@yahoo.co.uk
BTW the VW engine codes for the 2.1 were MV and DJ for most there are also (rarely)SS and SR

I think it looks bl**dy nice (compared to mine)]
What do you know already?
About transmissions, VCs, engines, wear and tear.
But if its ex Swedish rail it'll be basically well maintained (unlike utilities here that destroy anything and everything that passes through their hands). Yes, I am having a go....

Looks pretty straight
what size tres are they? its not a genuine 16" if they are 16" rims...
(as far as I can tell they look like 15")
I am not a big fan of the "paint it black" idea, tends to usually (but not always) be a cover up of some problems..
you have to look in the locker area and see what the load bed looks like from under neath..
also a good look and feel about under the chassis too..
Mechanically .. only a good drive and inspection of components..
how does it compare to others for sale price wise??? or have you been asked to put in a bid?
MOT? TAX? UK reg?

that looks very nice. The other chaps know more about the mechanical side but it seems a lot cleaner and less beaten up than many I looked at.
Dokas just look so right.

Can't find a lot more out for a few weeks the owner went away today for 3 weeks.
It passed it's MOT 2 weeks ago so comes with a full ticket.
Has a few tarty bits added(captains seats, front bumper etc)
But the guy who has it has imported a fair few and reckons it's the best he's seen.
I was originally going down the 2wd road but could only find beat up vehicles.I can really use a pick-up so is ideal.
I've seen them cheaper in worse condition but the last time i found one like this it went for £1300 more than this ones asking price and was 5 years older. It is UK registered on a G plate.
I can only wait to find out more.
One last question what can i expect fuel figure wise.

Sweet sixteen

But definitely not a 16". Where did that come from toomanytoys? Just look at the circular depression in the panel behind the front wheel arch where the filler would go in a Caravelle/Kombi etc. On a 16" the wheel arches eat into this area of the panel.
Looks great by the way - good luck.

...it has the 'tiny flaps' fitted to 14" Syncros supplied w. 6" rims. It appears nicely fettled, but I think the front bumper, which is mismatched with the rear, is a mistake.
