Thanks for that Ivorblueun have decided to face the unbeatable,
wrap myself well and crawl under the van and try to get it out if I want to do a good job.
Is it easy to unbolt the sump only or drop the engine first then the sump?

took mine of last weekend took about 30-45min each way remember before you start you need a long 5mm allen key preferably a ball ended type to get to the back 3 bolts between the sump and the clutch bell housing and when you refit the sump nip the bell housing bolts before the sump flange bolts or you will crack the new sump

It takes all of 5 mins to weld it up with a Tig welder (or have it welded) but make sure its very clean before hand. Also try to flush out the crack with thinners etc if possible as welding will draw the oil out and it makes it difficult to get a clean weld.

Any good ally machine shop will be able to do it cheap. I had a TD sump modified to take a pipe for Turbo return a while ago.
