Options on Subaru conversion
Options on Subaru conversion, I have a very solid 1989 Westie pop top I have a gearbox or diff wine the exhaust needs changing and looks unlikely to come off very easily, one of the hydraulic tappets is noisy. I don't want to be plagued with a load of change this change that every time I want to use it. The cost of a new 2.1 is not cheap and with no real improvement in performance other than reliability I have decided to find out more about a Subaru conversion which engine what year and has anybody had one done that would change anything
Thanks Keith
Thanks Keith

Scooby Power
I have recently acquired a sccoby powered Caravelle Syncro.
It has plenty of free revving power. tho I suspect more available from this engine.
The wiring looks nightmarish to me but I hate electrics.

P.S. TC should have given you the full size loft of the wiring diagram we gave him (Kennedy one) plus CD + reams of copies of all things Subaru/electrical as documentation of your wiring.

Think it might be wise to have them.. particularly the full-size loft blueprint of the loom, whether he followed it exactly or not. As you say like a lot of us, you're not that keen on the electrical wiring side, this drawing is not a schematic, but the actual loom laid out and what sits at each end of the connections - so would make more sense if yo needed to follow a wire. But if it all goes well, and no hitches, then he's done a good job, a lot have a variety of minor problems, though almost every Subie engine did vary month by month with continual mods (improvements
) and some are more sods than others I think.

Subaru conversion,
Thanks guys the links make for interesting reading, I will also need some one to install it, looks like TSR wants about £5000 the time you have had a new box and that is for a 2.0L. Not sure how keen I really am to spend that kind of money.

New box, just put a good 2nd hander in?
Talk to Richard (rjes) and get a quote for all the bits, th engines are usually cheap as chips (well, they're not taht cheap anymore, in the London area anyway
