More Heat Required

Hi

Is it possible to boost the cab heaters performance? I'm over in Sweden just now and things got a bit chilly last winter. Temp can be below -25 C for weeks. Heaters fine in normal conditions but think the air temp supercools the coolant. Seen a few older cars with front vents blocked off but not sure if this is wise. Can't quite get the sauna to fit in the back either.

I've heared of a modification that recycles the interior air from the cab.
However thats the limit of my knowledge.
perhaps they bocked the exterior intake and fitted an internal intake somehow....

why not fit an eberspacher heater.you can run it on the move.and fit a timer so it will come on before you get into the van in the morning...

Thanks for the info. Will look into the recyled air system. I have a 'webasto' aux heating system but can't run this with while driving. Also everyone here has an overnight electric hookup for engine warmers and cabin heaters so first thing in the morning is no probs. Might just have to buy thicker thermals.

would have thought the thermo would have shut off the supply to the rad if coolant was over cooled

what about rigging up a rear heater from a caravelle which is quite effective as it reheats the air in the van itself

yours is an older car--

--I wouldnt have thought it would do any harm to experiment with radiator blinds--all its doing is blockin off the direct icy blast--jus keep an eye on the temp gauge---does your temp gauge run in the right place-just over halfway?--if its low change the thermostat--

hope you aint sleeping in it with no eberspacher !! ive done a few survival courses in arctic climates, dig yourself a snow hole(tunnel in)make a raised platform out of snow(to sleep on) keep a lit candle going all night(will raise the temp by 1 degree) you should be ok. oh dont forget fresh air holes. good luck !!
