Pushrod Seals

Post by wehey »

Hiya all,
Is there any way of stopping them from leaking oil? Its only a drip but im trying to sell the van and its putting people off. The oil is dripping onto the exhaust and causing a bit of smoke when it burns off.

Its a 1980 2L Aircooled.

Thanks in advance
Neal

You can remove pushrod tubes on your engine by removing rocker assemblies. They can be pulled out through the top of the cylinder head - just fit new seals.

ChickenKoop and I found that if the tube was obstinate, we could fit a deep socket close to internal diameter of pushrod tube inside it and use this to stop the tube collapsing if we used molegrips to grip the tube with during removal. Also a smear of hylomar on the seals helps too.
