zig unit mc 2000 in 91 T25 autosleeper

Post by leesoya »

Hi all... I have the above mentioned bus, it only has the driver battery only, I want to install a leisure battery, I'm wondering if anyone can confirm if the above mentioned zig can be adapted to wire in a leisure battery, and if so can anyone tell me how to get hold of a wiring diagram for the unit... cheers :)

wiring diagram is in the wiki for Autosleepers.

your van should have come with an aux battery.
I am surprised the wiring is not there under the passenger seat.

So if the second battery and wiring was an optional extra, would that mean the installed zig unit does or doesn't have the capability of running the second battery......? i.e would a lower model zig have been installed? or would it have just been the same xig, but no wiring... appreciate your help !!!

I didn't think Autosleepers came with a Zig, and MC2000 doesn't ring a bell either. Any chance of a picture?

no Bren, they didn't do zigs as standard I'm sure.
we need to determine if this fella has a split charge relay.
in the engine bay, attached just under the lip of the cover nearest you, to the right. there should be a relay with a thick red wire or a thick black wire going from the alternator to this relay and from it and disappears under the van ... together with two smaller wires.

if you can't see one ..how many thick wires are attached to the alternator?

to vwsween..... is the dc u3 the fuse switch box to the left of the bench? and is your second battery under passenger seat?

If so i take it my mc2000 will accept a second battery even though wires etc are not installed??

just had a look in the engine compartment, thick red wires from alternator go to starter motor and somewhere else,no relay in engine compartment,in the autosleeper handbook, it say's that Zig dcu/3 is fitted to larger models(2.1)? or special order,I am still non the wiser as to whether it is easy to fit a leisure battery easily, how much for a zig dcu/3?,is it simple to fit?

ok so no split charge system there
you just have the control panel then?

Split charge system? ..simple yes
Take a look here https://club8090.co.uk/wiki/Ca ... it_charger" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

split charge relay from maplins
some cable
a battery
follow the instructions

to do what the zig does, which is to charge the battery when on hook up, again that's quite straight forward.

Mine is a 2.1 and the DCU3 is additional to the 'fuse box switched'/rcd.
