Re: Hydrocarbons too high for mot!

Thanks for sharing your knowledge guys. Just waiting for the call. I've spoken to a local guy who has experience setting up carbs and has all the gizmos to do it so will speak to him again if it fails this time. After further checks for air leaks and other ignition problems of course! Cheers

Re: Hydrocarbons too high for mot!

Ahhhh sound like we're getting somewhere then. I took it for a quick drive this evening and it's not running as well as I thought. Seems to pulse when cruising at speed. Also video'd it after the drive.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u1ky2SUVS_Y&feature=youtube_gdata_player Again the idle spee...

Re: Hydrocarbons too high for mot!

Thanks for the tips guys. The CO reading is 0.081 and the max limit is 4.500 so i take it that's a pretty low reading and so points to no air leak. To be honest i don't know how sensitive this test is but i'm guessing that's a low reading. I'm gonna take it for a good blast on the way to the retest ...

Hydrocarbons too high for mot!

Hi guys, I need some advice. My van has just failed it's mot on the emissions test. It's Hydrocarbons are reading 1407 and the max it can be is 1200. What is likely the cause of this? The engine runs quite well, probably the best Aircooled engine I've had in terms of running, but it can be reluctant...

Re: t25 2.ol Aircooled

1.6 CT with matching gear box

Easiest to just get another CU if yours is pooped.

Going water cooled is too much faff in my opinion.

Re: Fitting an accelerator cable

Yes you should have a long pin type bit that attaches to the end of the cable which then goes through a barrel clamp on the linkage. mine is then held in the barrel clamp with a circlip but i'm not sure if there should be something else holding it in as I've never been convinced a circlip is suffici...

Re: Brake parts

lol thanks guys but i'm not made of money

£250 is enough for one month! Sods law dictates that there will in fact be some extra part i find that needs replacing that you've all missed! I guess that's what i get for trying to be organised

Re: Brake parts

Thank for the info guys. I'll do the bearings regardless as i'm unsure when they were last done, same goes for the brake fluid, it's not been done in the 2 years I've had the van!

If i can get the guys at brickwerks to knock in the new races then all the better

Will have a good look a...

Re: Replacing tailgate struts

Nice one. Did this a few weeks ago, dead easy.

I got some struts form eBay and they were slightly stronger then the old ones. Tried it out after i did 1 side and it nearly took my face off! so left the old one on the other side

Roof struts next!

Re: 2.0 CU ignition parts

http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8315/7924801070_f12026a8ac.jpg I got these boxes left over from when i had 1.6 CT engine. The one on the right is the ignition unit and the one on the left is the idle stabiliser? What's a hall sensor? Better see if I can find the wiring for these boxes! Cheers,...
