Engine and gearbox swap
Have a 2ltr Aircooled with gearbox/linkage probs. Been off the road for a while as no enthusiasm. So the question is: My wife wants to get the camper sorted and on the road. She can only drive an auto! So I have to put an autobox in and think while Im doing this I may aswell fit a more reliable/easi...

engine and gearbox swap
I have a 2ltr Aircooled. bought it a couple of years ago and gearbox problems have kept it off the road. Was gonna Ebay it as spares or repair, but she who must be obeyed wants to bring it back to life.
So the question I want a more reliabe engine/gearbox combination (auto if pos). Any ideas????

Be carefull buying these multi banks, Alot of them only run a total of about 4 amps and the plug will melt(ive got a collection)Tescos do a good one for 10 quid that locks into the plug socket and gives battery condition. Your better off wiring any inverter direct to the battery.

remove the injectors or better still the glow plugs now try with a spanner if it turns it aint seezed then as I know nothing bout ththis engine probably do like they say n throw it away.

Thanks mine was making a very nasty noise in 3rd n 4th with no drive, but a very nice gent has donated a new box which is going in on the 22nd.

try a classic policy with bout 5000 miles then when you go away swap the speedo(did I say that thats naughty) probably your cheapest option and classic policy has no age problems

I deliver it (or used to think we lost the contract) for van use I d see if they ve got any damaged boards as you dont need an 8x4 in a van. Try Sheffield insulation theres a discount battle going on

yes but being in a lorry thinking for 15 hours the idea came into my head. Im also working on the idea of rewireing the lesure side of the system. Lectrics I know a little bit.
