Re: Sliding door sizes?
I really do think the use of a 'spectrometer' is rather jumping the gun and running before getting of all 4's :rofl sorry but from looking at thoise picks, the rest will be as bad? yes mm Nope. Not at all. There's one or two minor bits in other areas of the bodywork but the door is by far the worst...

Re: Sliding door sizes?

So I suppose what I want to know is (best guesstimate) what would all this cost to
cut out, replace/reweld & repaint in matched colour(spectrometer job?).
Cheers in advance.

Re: Sliding door sizes?
Aha! Nearly worked.
I'll have to shrink it for the web in Adobe to get it
to 144k/b or less. I'll have to do that our lasses PC.
Cheers Kev.

Re: Sliding door sizes?
I haven't a clue what's going on but I joined photobucket but every
time I try to upload the photos, I get sent round in circles from one type
of sign in page to another & so on.
Can't I just upload them from my PC?

Re: Chassis drawings
Is it the "Body Panels & Chassis" chapter 50 of the Vanagon manual you're after?
If it is PM me & I should be able to sort a few dimensions.

Re: difficulty in getting gears after gear shift overhaul
I'm not sure about yours being 5 speed, but when I first had problems getting my 4 speed into 1st gear it was the splined extension shaft just in front of the hook(universal) coupling underneath the van which was set wrong. It came loose one day & I found that when I connected it up when in 3rd ...

If you are going to quote someone. Don't just quote the bits that make you look stupid.
That's in my experience of course!

Diesel you say?
You could always try changing the cylinder head gasket!
It's a bit cheaper than an engine by about £700

Re: Another Oil Question - Diesel Oil in Petrol Engine?
In my experience 15W40 is diesel engine oil. I don't know what 15X40 is though!
I'm sure Shell, Mobil et al, all come up with some sales gimmicks like 'let's call some of our 15w40 oil, petrol engine oil' just to confuse us mortals!
It's 15w40 as opposed to say 10w40 which is for motorcycles.

Re: T25 not starting
You say you have fuel. Are you absolutely sure you have? You don't by any chance park on the left side of the road on a camber do you? I do & when empty, the fuel gauge reads about a qtr full. If your not sure put about a gallon in & if your battery's up to it turn it over till it starts. It...
