Motor cuts out below 1750rpm
Hi everyone, Posted this problem some time ago, not yet resolved the issue hence the 'new' plea! I have a 2.1 dj which refuses to maintain an idle, if revs fall below approx. 1750 the motor will just fade away. I have tried a new air idle valve, expensive, sods law determined it wasn't that! Aidan s...

Re: 2.1DJ WONT IDLE AT STARTUP WITHOUT THROTTLE
All, Apologies for not having responded sooner, thanks for the suggestions to date. Here is a further update: The throttle body switch is operating as it should, making and breaking dependant on the throttle position. The air idle control valve is buzzing when the ignition is on although does anyone...

Re: Rear wheel carrier
The Bernd Jaeger unit is an easy option, left or right fitment and reasonably priced. I have one fitted and it does what it says but very different design (basic) from the original. I do have an original VW carrier that I have never got round to fitting, don't know what price you are looking to pay ...

2.1DJ WONT IDLE AT STARTUP WITHOUT THROTTLE
Hi, When starting, unless a bit of throttle is applied the engine (2.1DJ) will not idle and just cuts out. However the engine will start and maintain an idle if throttle is used when starting. The engine has up to now always started and maintained an idle without additional throttle input so I would...

Re: Which power steering fluid?
Yes have drained system, rack off and drained that and replaced feed and return pipes so I am fairly confident most of the old fluid has been removed. The fluid from VW is G00400 M2 which apparently is the replacement part no. for G00200. Just waiting for a new filter (at least now there will be a f...

Re: Which power steering fluid?
Thank you for the replies. There I was about to make a decision as a result of the fairly definitve opinion, until that is, VW put the proverbial oar in the ointment and stated that the correct fluid is the G00200 spec but actually gave me the current equivalent part number. The upshot is that VW re...

Which power steering fluid?
Hi, Having had a recent problem with steering (T3/25 2.1 Syncro) that led to a new pump I am keen to replace the fluid with the correct 'stuff'! There are conflicting opinions on whatever forum you care to look at so am none the wiser. Handbook just states Dexron which appears to be a generic name g...

Re: Westfalia Replacement Canvas Which One?
Before you cut the hole - it is a Mosiak pop-top, not a standard Westy one, yes? Not entirely sure what the difference is between a Mosaik and a standard Westy top? I assumed I had a standard top, brought from german Frank at VanFest a few years ago. It has the old style canvas fixing ie staples, a...

Westfalia Replacement Canvas Which One?
Hi, having finally decide to cut the hole in the roof and fit the Westy top (had it for 5 years!) I need advice on which canvas to go for. I want to ensure I buy a good quality canvas so the end result is as good as I can get. So, if anyone can recommend a particular canvas it would be very helpful?...

Re: Syncro 16 Caliper
Well, job done. Made up and replaced both front metal pipes and to my complete surprise managed to extract both bleed nipples. They didn't look much good after I had finished with them and after 12:00 on a saturday it looked like I was stumped with all the factors closed. Local car parts shop had a ...

Re: Syncro 16 Caliper
Hi, Thanks for the replies. Having taken the affected caliper off, my describing the pipe as a balance pipe was a bit off the mark! Now its in the vice it is obviously the metal pipe joining the flexible hose to the caliper body, but I guess you already knew that! Chances of undoing the bleed nipple...

Syncro 16 Caliper
Hi, Can anyone out there offer advice on sourcing front calipers for a '16'? The metal 'balance' pipe has blown on the front o/s and corrosion has done its job on the pipe fittings so that removal proving impossible. Need a rapid fix as its (was!) in daily use.
many thanks, Claude

Hi,
Anyone know what the score is with lpg on the continent? Availabilty would certainly ease the pain, not tight just frugal!
Thanks,
Claude
