Re: Braking Woe's

Yep I wound the piston back but I have since pumped the piston back out with a block of wood in place to see if the piston was stuck.

Re: water in automatic transmission system

Think Automotive Auto Trans Cooler. I've run one for 8 years on my Subaru motor and this has helped preserve the box.

Re: Killed my bus

Sounds like you are missing 12v to the ECU? Cant remember if Richard put an Ignition fuse on the ECU? Fuel pump relay Pins 1+2 Yell you should see with ignition on 12v ish. Pin 4 Black Red live to pump on prime and running. Pin 3 Light Green Black to ECU via a diode. Its this signal that grounds the...

Re: Killed my bus

tony, Ignition on lives the fuel pump relay which primes the pump. Once started the ECU fires the relay to keep the pump running. Check the Voltage at the fuel pump relay for 12v with ignition lights on. If no volts there then check back to ignition fuse. First things first slow back track. Has the ...

Re: leaky waterboxer

Yeah hi Wood, thanks for the comment on my builds. Right first things first is your van Auto? If it is at present no one in the UK does a adaptor for an Auto, but I used Kennedy Engineering in the States for the Auto adaptor and associated part. PLEASE TAKE NOTE OF THESE WISE WORDS BELOW!! IF YOU CA...

Don't get me wrong I love my Auto van with Factory Cruise control its a real mile muncher on the motorway and a real pleasure to drive even when its slamme...

Re: leaky waterboxer

Hey guy's after completing another 1000 odd effortless miles last week in Cornwall, again I can say the only way is the Subaru way. Without getting back on soapbox and starting to preach AGAIN pound for pound its the most cost effective way to replacing the engine whilst gaining 30 more horses and l...

Re: subaru

HI Tony yes the wedding and honeymoon was great. I have now joined the thumb on head club!! Anyway I do agree with Harry Mann 100% there is no point at all putting carbs on this motor as I believe that the MPFI system was one of the best at the time and still is a fabulous system. By putting carbs o...

Re: Tha dark side keeps calling

From the first time I saw these conversions over 5 years ago I fell in love with them. If VW had continued to develop the flat 4 configuration then I am, sure that it would have been something like the current Subaru Boxer. Again like everything Japanese they take the original idea and improve on it...

Re: subaru

Yes you can put a set of carbs on the Subaru engine as I have seen this done a couple of times. I would presume that you remove the blanking cap from the end of the cam shaft and just refit the standard electronic ignition just like the early 2.2's had. When you look you can see that the dizzy drive...

When fitting the new set-up, the van received brand new increased width and thickness braided earth strap from gearbox to chassis as the original had disintegrated. I am fully aware of the ground issues that Subaru's suffer from hence making sure that every ground is cleaned fully, connector and cha...
