If the box or diff isn't noisy and changes Ok (when its warmed up and you get used to it), it drives smoothly and nicely without shaking, steers and stops well, then you've probablyfound a good one. Checking the VC normally requires a quick drive up a wet grass slope to ensure the front is pulling ...

Syncro numpty!
Hi As the title says, I am a Syncro numpty. I have owned many T3's, but all 2WD and I don't have a clue about 'the dark side'! I have recently been given the opportunity to buy a T3 Syncro which looks to be a very good example. No body rust at all, Projekt Zwo front and rear bumpers, rear spare whee...

I see your points. There is something about a well sorted T3. If I had a Syncro, which I used for proper off road fun at the weekends then yes a TDI would almost certainly be NECESSARY let alone desirable. I imagine you would need the power to climb the sorts of hills as I have seen on U-Tube! Howev...

This is getting worse and more ridiculous! 12000 Euros now! Does that come with a free time machine and Gods telephone number? Talking of moving things up the evolutionary scale, I thought VW already did that. I beleive they are on the T5 now aren't they? Sorry guys, but we will just have to agree t...

I understand that you pays your money and you takes your choice. That applies to everything. I agree that it depends on the mileage you will do etc, but has anyone actually stopped to think how many miles you would actually have to do to make this conversion pay? I doubt it. Well lets have a go. I c...

Gone quiet
Gone a bit quiet now this topic. Shall I take it from the silence that we are all in agreement that a TDI conversion should be avoided unless you have more money than sense or are capable of doing it yourself?

Ratios
This thread just runs and runs doesn't it?! For the record and after further contact with HA Projekt, the 6500 Euro covers the TDI swap plus a longer 5th gear in your box of 0.78. For an extra 1000 Euro on top, they will change the final drive to 4.57 and insert a 0.69 5th gear. This is all greek to...

Respray
Hi Are you still in the respray business. I have a couple of vans that could do with some work. Possibly not a full respray, but I'd be open to a professional opinion of what needs doing and how best to do it. I can email you pics of the areas needing attention and or I can come visit you with the v...
RHD Kit
Go for the No More Rusty Bits option. Straight as a die and you could not honestly tell them apart from a genuine RHD kit (if VW could have been arsed to make one!) www.nomorerustybits.com Order on the phone.

RHD planks
Hi
VW didn't make RHD side planks, but a company called No More Rusty Bits do. Use the original VW brackets for fixing and very good quality. Web site is www.nomorerustybits.com

Point taken my friend. This is not something I am dead set on, but when you can buy corn oil for 49 pence per litre, it doesn't take a genius to work out the savings on say a trip to the south of France for example. I am just curious whether anyone out there can give me some definitive advice on the...

Veg oil mix. What's safe?
Hi Right, at the risk of someone out there repeating themselves for the 100th time, is it ok to mix new veg oil with diesel in the tank and run your 1.6TD van on it? I did so last summer at a mix of about 20% with no problems, but stopped when the weather got cold as I assumed that the veg oil in th...

Recommended companies to perform TDI conversion
Hi
Can anyone out there recommend someone, or a company who can do a good professional TDI conversion on a T3? If so how much would it be and how long would it take?
Had a quote back from HA Projekt of 6500 Euro for the complete job or 4800 if I supplied an entire donor car! Seems a little costly!
