Re: Distributor Question 2L Aircooled

ok, the bus is still playing up. The distributor in it now is for a 1.6 which it was running with fine before. The problem now is that it completely loses power when it goes up a hill. I can make it replicate the problem by driving up a fairly steep hill in 3rd gear for about half a mile under full ...

Re: Distributor Question 2L Aircooled

Hi, Thanks for the replies. I have taken the distributor out and found one of the wires from the plug to the sender is broken. But I also noticed, looking at the code, that the distributor is the one for a CT engine i.e 070-905-205 Bosch 0-237-023-005‏. The van was going fine. Should I put the corre...

Distributor Question 2L Aircooled

Hi, I'm wondering if anyone can help. I have a 1981 2L Aircooled with a recon vege engine. Yesterday the van was going along fine when the engine lost power and back fired to a stop and wouldn't start again. There wasn't a spark from the ignition coil HT lead to the distributor and the plug on the s...

Re: Battery charge up and down when driving

Hi Tony,

Thanks for the reply. It's just the standard volt meter "Battery Condition" dial to the left of the stereo on the dash. I'll check the connections, but it does seem to be getting more difficult to start.

Cheers.

Battery charge up and down when driving

Hi, I've got a 1981 2L Aircooled. When I start the engine and drive the voltage meter reads 13V and everything is fine. Then after about 1/2 and hour of driving the voltage meter will suddenly drop right down to about 11 for a while and then sometimes almost to nothing for a few seconds. Then after ...

Brake Calipers

Hello, Does anyone know where to get 2 front brake calipers for a 1981 2L t25, for a reasonable price? GSF are £78 + VAT, seems like loads. Also are they easy to fit?
Cheers.

Heating tubes, from the heat exchangers

Hello, I have no heating in my 2L Aircooled, there is nothing connecting the ends of the heat exchangers (that point to the front of the bus) to the Y shape pipe that carries the hot air to the front of the bus. There's a gap of about 12" from each exchanger to their respective endof the pipe. ...

Petrol gauge is constantly on empty??

Hello, My petrol gauge is constantly on, no fuel in the tank. I left the bus standing for a week with about £10's worth of petrol in it. It's a 2L 1981 Aircooled T25. Has anyone had this problem before, or know what I can check? does it work of a float in the tank or are there any fuses to check? i'...
