So why when I clean the black deposit from the terminal does the van then run again?

Hi all, Got a 2.0L Aircooled motor which requires a continuous supply of new dizzy caps. :? Every couple of hundred miles the terminals inside the cap suffer oxidation where they turn black and can no longer pass the spark to the plugs. I have changed: Plugs, leads, coil, cap. Even fitted a new dizz...

Not sure if you can seperate the solenoid from the motor so you might be looking at a complete exchange unit.

Sorted it ! was the black electronic ignition box. Fitted a new one and it runs just great ! thanks for your help all.

Tried blanking both connections. Engine was running ok before the clutch change.

I must not be getting a spark as there is not even a splutter from the engine as you try to start it.

Thanks. I forgot to mention that the 8BTDC is with the vac pipes off and my finger over the vac pipe connected to the manifold behind the airbox.
Is this correct? I undertood that when you re-connect the vac pipes the timinmg should move from 8BTDC to 4-5ATDC ? ? ?

Got an alternator now, fitted and seems ok but the pulleys still don't line up correctly.
