Re: Rear difflock bracket wanted....

Hi Aidan,

vac unit must go in the right way round the pin hole is offset

Do you mean that the hose end of the unit points down and aft as it was when I removed it? Or is it somthing else?

Cheers

Re: Rear difflock bracket wanted....

You can't.... that's how the bracket got adjusted.

Can I test the operation of the actuator with it off the bracket? just to rule that out? My refabrication job on the bracket looked to be spot on so it may be somthing else causing my woes.

Rear difflock bracket wanted....

Hiya, Whilst removing my starter a few weeks ago I had to resort to an angle grinder to undo the bolts holding the difflock actuator...... Unfortunately I was suffering with man flu at the time so what I actually cut through was the bracket itself... "tw~nt". I "Remanufactured" t...

Re: Removing Starter on a Syncro.....

Thanks for all the advice.... Started the job on Saturday and found straight away that some numpty has buggered the socket headed bolts on the driveshaft, typically they are a mix of allen and star and the last person to refit them tore the hell out of all the star bolts.... Towed the van to work so...

Removing Starter on a Syncro.....

Am I right in thinking that I need to remove the difflock actuator to get my starter off? Undone the bolts holding the starter in and it seems to be rather neatly obstructed by the difflock.... Tried to undo the small bolts holding the servo body onto its bracket but they are fubarred... Can I repla...

Re: Westfalia Cooker

My two penneth... I found that the lower pressure reg (28mbar) made for a slow cup of tea and a poor fridge... The 907 (butane) made for carp cold weather performance, especially for that critical first brew. I fitted a 6kg ish calor propane under the sink with a 50mbar reg from calor in southhampto...

Front Diff exploded view...

Hiya, Has anyone got an exploded view image of the front final drive including the vc? I've discovered that the clonk noise when a front wheel is jacked up is coming from the vc housing (loudish clonk when rotating wheel back and forth to test freeplay in whole final drive), trying to get a picture ...

Front diff backlash...

Hiya, with one front wheel jacked up, how much rotational freeplay should there be at the wheel? I've got about 3cm at the tread with a fairly loud clonk at each end... normal?

Re: VIN Error on UK Registration Certificate

Hiya,

I too had this problem, I didn't check the new v5 when I imported mine, the MOT chap spotted the c*ck up and the DVLA wrote to me. Just had to send the old v5 and fill in a form.... all sorted.

Sounds like you had a good time to me :D I get into just those kind of scrapes on my tod... maybe take a bit more time to scout before you leap... (not that I allways manage to  )

If you don't scare yourself sometimes, how do you know you're alive?

Re: Compression test 1.9DG...

So, does this mean I need to get a "CLT" to know whether this is an urgent thing or a save up for a 2.1 in 6 months after a summer of camping thing?

Compression test 1.9DG...

Hiya, My van has noticably lost oomph over the last few months so I decided to do a compression test to see what's what.... The results were: 1 9.5 bar 2 11.4 3 11.4 4 10.6 All of the cylinders came up to pressure in 3 compression strokes (engine run for 20 minutes about 2 hours before test) except ...

Re: Siezed lock barrel, Drivers door.

Right, Finally got round to sorting all of my locks out today.... Quite entertaining and nowhere near as nightmareish as I imagined. Nearly all of the tumblers were seized and full of gunk. I freed them all up then brightened them with a fine wet and dry. Reassembled with dry graphite. All work perf...
