Smokey starts
Hey all, I know this topic has been covered before, but I've not been able to find what I was looking for. My van (1.6 diesel, cs) has difficulty cold starting. Below about 7C it struggles and starts on less than 4 cilinders. Below freezing it is really difficult to get going, starts on I think two ...

Re: Coolant issues
Probably not very easy. At least you can try to see if the cable moves the lever as it should. It is somewhere above the spare wheel. Perhaps try to pull a hose off somewhere behind the valve, start the engine with it closed and slowly open it to see if fluid starts to flow?

Re: Electrical issues / questions 1.9DG water-cooled
Hi, welcome here! I don't know much about the electrics of a petrol engine, but is is not that weird if the radiator stays cold after a few mins of idling. Idling just doesn't really warm up things that well. Does your engine itself get quite hot quickly? Have you opened your coolant tank and starte...

Re: Standard seat back removal
We did this a few years ago. Can't remember the exact details but it was an annoying job. Don't think we really got the seat base and backrest to separate, but at least to lie flat on the floor. That gives enough space to work on the cushions. I vaguely recall that it took a lot of force to get the ...

Re: Accelerator/ throttle very notchy
If you manipulate the throttle in the engine bay, is it smooth?
If so, it is not at your engine/carbs. Indeed likely to be the cable. You could visually check the cable to see if it is kinked or the sheath is damaged etc

Re: Heater fan gone - should I replace resistor pack with Jeep spec or PWM controller?
Splitting the box can be quite annoying if it hasn't been done before. The rest is very straightforward. I needed to change some of the foam as the old stuff had gone to dust. Good luck

Re: Heater fan gone - should I replace resistor pack with Jeep spec or PWM controller?
I didn't change the resistor when I did my blower recently. And it is working fine now. But it might be easy insurance to do it when you're there anyway. Personal choice I guess.
Check the coolant hoses up there is my advise. Would be annoying if those were to start leaking while underway.
