What is this pipe and where I can buy a replacement?
Hi all, I've been meaning to try and replace this rusty looking coolant pipe for ages. Does anyone know where I might be able to buy one? Or what you'd call it so I can search for the correct term on google? (image attached - with the red line showing where it goes with various junctions) I'm finall...

Any recommendations for a new starter battery?
Hi All, I know this isn't a very technical question but I need to buy a new starter battery and wondered if anyone had an opinion on what would be good to go for? The battery we're replacing is a Drivemaster 065, and I've contacted a battery shop near me and they've quoted £73.49 for a new version o...

Re: Get old engine fixed / or get a new engine?
So from what I'm gathering Elite engines and Just Kampers (Vege) recon engines are a bit of a lottery.... some good, some bad.
Yep the van does still runs fine. Just a bit slow!
So if I go down the route of getting the head refurbished can anyone recommend someone a bit closer to Worcestershire?

Get old engine fixed / or get a new engine?
Basically I'm after a bit of advice from people on which path to take. Our van (F reg 1988 watercooled 1.9 dg petrol) is currently only running on 3 cylinders. Investigation is showing that cylinder 3 has no compression and the exhaust valve is burnt out. The compression on cylinders 2 & 4 seem ...

Re: Worn tappets / different size tappets
Okay go it now. I think. Ta.
I'll start a new post with the last two questions I asked, as they don't really relate to my initial post anymore.

Re: Worn tappets / different size tappets
Thanks for all the input. ajsimmo - from what you've said I think our van (being an F reg 1988) has the 1.9 dg engine and therefore originally would have had 9mm tappet screws. As it happens further probing has uncovered that cylinder 3 has no compression and it looks like the exhaust valve is burnt...

Re: Worn tappets / different size tappets
Sorry, I meant tappet screws. I've changed my original message now so it should actually make sense. Trying to figure out which size tappet screws would have been standard on our van and what could be causing them to wear away so badly? My mate (helpful mechanic mate) who is used to dealing with Air...

Worn tappets / different size tappets
Hi all, we could do with a bit of your knowledge... Our van (1.9 water cooled petrol engine) started running a bit lumpy, which turns out it was only running on 3 cylinders. The spark plugs had oiled up - so we replaced them. Also we replaced some worn tappet screws as the same thing happened about ...

Re: Which alternator to buy?
We don't have any special electrical equipment to run (no leisure battery or fridge or anything) so went for the 65AMP option as it looked pretty much exactly the same. Although the wheel had a longer arm on it, so I had to swap it with the wheel on my old alternator (otherwise the belt wouldn't hav...

Which alternator to buy?
Hello all, in short the alternator on our van started making funny noises and then seized up. So I'm going to buy a new one but there seems to be a variety of options 45AMP, 65AMP & 90AMP. I've taken the alternator off our van but there are no visible signs of what AMP it is. Does anyone know wh...

Re: Recommendations for camping in southern ireland?
Hello all, I was searching for info about camping in south/south west ireland and came across this thread from last year. Anyone got any newer suggestions of where's good to go? Other things to consider for us: near to a good beach for surfing (for me) hot shower (for the wife and baby) dog friendly...

Front stub axle off-side suitability?
Hello there,
My question is - Will the Front stub axle (off-side) from an Aircooled t25 1980 be ok to put on my Watercooled t25 1988?
Hope someone can shed some light on this for me...
Cheers all,
Mark

Re: Removing radiator problem...
we did try a bit of brute force, but they still won't budge.
I don't really know - but I'm guessing the best bet now would be to take our van to a garage and get them to grind the bolts off??
really apreciate all your feedback by the way
