Re: Pierburg accelerator pump leaking
Yes @maxstu that just occurred to me too! [emoji23] I've ordered the diaphragm from Brickwerks as part of the carb rebuild kit which seems sensible to carry in the running spares.
If it does need the new diaphragm can I do that in place or is it a carb off job?

Pierburg accelerator pump leaking
I noticed evidence of a slow leak around the accelerator pump on my pierburg 2e3 - it looks like it's been slowly weeping for a while. Is the pump diaphragm from brickwerks likely the thing I need to fix it? Sorry about the terrible picture! https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20250723/d8aa2b53a2cd3fe3...

Re: Front to back cooling pipes
Thanks all, this is the conclusion the garage and I came to as well - it's a worthy objective to try to avoid the problem of suddenly loosing all the coolant but it sounds like it's more likely that a flush & change of pipes would cause other leaks-in-waiting to show up. So we're going to do the...

Front to back cooling pipes
Hi all, I've checked under my 1990 1.9DG to check the condition of the front to back cooling pipes as we're going on a longish trip next month. They look like original plastic ones. I thought they were rubber but I think that was just a layer of road crud on the underside  They feel like har...

Re: Engine Oil
I agree better have oil than worry too much about mixing them. I think regular changes are more than the exact type. Certainly in old canal boat engines we always used the mineral oil, but they were diesel.. for what it's worth I've settled in 10w40 semi synthetic from wherever, usually Wilco! Sent ...

Re: Drip from water pump
And the ending of the story is that the pipe attach to the water pump was loose. Tightening up the bolts had cured the leak. Thank you for all the help, I feel much better prepared for a water pump change should it become necessary now!

Re: Drip from water pump
Looking at the pump and giving it a spin with the belt off it feels like there is little to no play and it spins freely without squeeling or making odd noises or feeling bumpy. On closer inspection, it looks like the leak may be coming from the large pipe connected to the left have side of the pump,...

Re: Drip from water pump
So I read the wiki and it looks a bit involved... Should I be doing more diagnosis before diagnosing water pump? We are away visiting family in Wales so hoping to top it up and keep a very close eye on the levels hold to England but it's a bit scary [emoji15] Sent from my ONEPLUS A3003 using Tapatalk

Drip from water pump
I just noticed a puddle under the van why when I stopped and a line of drips down the road. I ran the engine up to temperature and saw a persistent drip from the bottom of the water pump housing. I'm guessing I need to replace the water pump? Is it hard?

The paint looks very nice in the bonded panel. What did you use?

Re: Replacing wiper spindle
Not sure if this is the same part but I had success tapping a new thread into the wiper spindle body and bolting the wiper on from the outside, as per https://www.gowesty.com/tech-article-details.php?id=145" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Don't know if that's the same thing,...

Re: Fire suppression systems
You can get kits designed for boat engine bays from marine Chandlers if you want some variety of examples. I think in a bus bay you would definitely want something with a trace tube so the basic fire extinguishers which goes pop when it gets hot might be a bit basic but might be worth a look in case...

Re: Manky steering wheel
When I bought ours the wheel was horribly sticky.i actually used what I had to hand which were Eco friendly (apparently) baby wet wipes. Much rubbing came off horribly black but worked a treat.
