Re: Hot Chokes...? How hot should they get?

Hi footprint.
Yep electrical chokes. Glad it normal. I knew thats they got warm to operate, but was quite alarmed at how hot they actually were when my arm brushed past them.
Nothing to worry about then.
Cheers fellas, happy motoring. :)

Re: Hot Chokes...? How hot should they get?

Hi Evsi,
yeah pulls well, no issues. :D
Never really taken any notice of how hot or not the choke units themselves get.
Just started to worry about something new and wanted to get reasured that they get hot and stay hot with no ill effects....
Thanks for your reply.
Cheers, Jon

Went home. But... Just happened to be fiddling around by the back of the carb and noticed how hot the chokes...

Re: Carb vac pipe help

Up date.... Empi 44s on and timing set as BOXY sugguested. Set the timing to 6-8' BTDC with both the vacs pipes blanked. Take the revs up to +3000 and see if the timing advances to somewhere near 30' BTDC. The van should run fine like that. Don't risk running the van too long without getting the mix...

Re: Carb vac pipe help

Hi Boxy, thanks for responce. So your saying that I could run the empi's, blank both of the vac ports on the dizzy and I might be ok? One of the vac ports on the dizzy is already blanked off, so I suppose I could blank off the other with the weber progressive still in situ and see how it runs. That ...

Carb vac pipe help

Hi all, I have a 1980 2000cc CU engine T25. Air cooled. Had a few problems last year which I sorted out. One problem was my carbs started to leak petrol out of the casing. Casing had hair line crack. Don't ask, I have no idea how it happened.... As a bodge fix I used liquid metal on crack. This solv...

Re: One side is smoking...

Hi, heads were checked for cracks so can rule that out. Engine out over weekend so will check for deposits at the back of valves. But i'm leaning towards broken ring as its very smokey on the one side but in a random way. Always smokey but sometime REALLY heavy and sometimes not so. Collecting rings...
