Re: Rear facing child seat
Afraid we had to turn around when both greww out of the first size. If you really want to scare yoursleves - have a look at the scandanavian research into Forward/Rear facing - where rear facing is recommended as long as they are in a car seat. However - you do have to play the game of statistical c...

Re: Kevtherevagon
And another thing...... with our HiTops - I would think most AS Tridents have spent their whole lives outside - whereas any cars of 20-30 years old may have spent some of that time hidden from the elements in garages (not that most people do that nowadays!!). I bet the UV effects over 20-30 years ha...

Re: Kevtherevagon
Kev, I actually agree (but was just raising the comment due to my findings on our van) - Autosleepers conversions probably were/are very good (esp in comparison with what others offer/offerred. No one really does reviews of even 5 year old cars (note the demise of "Used Car Magazine" - you...

Re: Kevtherevagon
Although many suggest Autosleeper CONVERSIONS as the pick of the UK crop - it does appear they were not averse to short cuts and poor practive. Use of Silicone sealant and poor sealing practices round external vents and lack of rust preventative measures with bits of the conversion is something that...

Re: Swapping Lock Barrel in Sliding Door Handle ?
........and relax. Thanks for the tips in this thread - we now have a working handle and I have a lot more knowledge  I had to drive the pins out with a drift to clean them up as they were so stuck in my barrel - some of the springs were also stick fast - so lots of WD40 and penetrating oil d...

Re: Swapping Lock Barrel in Sliding Door Handle ?
Sorry - haven't been looking in. It was not turning in the handle (at all - stuck fast).....but today - I was not to be defeated! I got a little movement and the lock activators moving in and out a mm or so - so I just kept turning the key a little more with a bit more forcem - and poured 3 in 1 pen...

Re: Swapping Lock Barrel in Sliding Door Handle ?
I am still stuck trying to get the barrel our of the SLding door lock. I have removed handle, have removed grub screw. WIth the key in there is NO movement beyong a half mm tunr - this is after repeated soakings in all manner of penetrating fluid, wd40, etc. Also tried Boiling Water (whick removed s...

Re: Planning to go to the north of Scotland in a couple of weeks
Couple of points - Be aware - very few (if any) of the campsites in the remoter areas will be open. This includes Inverness so Wilding will be you ronly option in ost places. If you NEED facilities then your choice will be limited (make a few calls first then plan a route). Use the Forestry picnic a...

VW appear to have stopped carrying the blue one we all want (at Inverness VW dealer anyway). Asked what they sell that I should use........no answer!
Any suggestions of an alternative (we don't have GSF up here).

Re: Front Spoiler Attachment.
I put the tool together in the thread found on here (couple of nuts and washers - oil after each use) - it worked a treat - had a couple of failures but got them out and refixed. Rivnuts came from local Industrial Suppliers in a bag for a few quid. If my google bookmarks weren't playing up I would a...

Re: A very rusty question.....
Just to give you a ballpark idea. We used a local guy (unfortunately local to us - not you) and supplied the panels. 4 Wheel arches, two footsteps, the rear corner pieces under the bumper and the famous fridge panel. All done £1000 including a respray under the waistline (some handy stripes on the A...

Re: Is a pop top any good in the wind?
Camping in the Western Isles and Western Scotland - you may reassess your confidence in the pop top - unless you park the right way round. We had several dropping the lid last year due to a bit of (normal for Lewis!) wind. Driving a Hi-top year round in the Highlands (where we also get a bit of wind...
