Exhaust - Type 25
I need a new exhaust down pipe, 1600 TD, for my bus. The silencer is fine so I only need the pipe. They are listed by Just Kampers (J10325) as being out of stock but can be ordered. Brickwerks don't seem to do single bits of exhaust only mega expensive stainless steel stuff. Problem is I am off the ...

Re: Dashboard Clock
Great, Ewen, thanks very much. I will try that when the temperature rises above freezing! I have a multi-meter but your bit about a tag from the PCB going under the spade terminal rings a bell. Maybe I left it off last time I was in there. Let you know how I get on.

Dashboard Clock
Who is an expert on clocks on 1989 Type 25? After several removals of the dash for other reasons mine has decided to sulk and won't work. Fuse is OK. Is the electric feed to the clock the spade terminal which comes out of the back of the clock itself or is it fed from the printed circuit? How is it ...

Re: Diesel/AAZ help please...
I once had a similar problem on a Type 2 petrol. I decided to change the pipe (I forget why) and bought a new black rubber pipe, a proper fuel pipe. I drove about ten miles and came to a halt. Wait a while and it would restart run a mile or so and stop. Finally traced to faulty rubber pipe, even tho...

Re: Fuel Consumption What mpg are people getting
32 - 33 general mix of driving. High top with 1.9.AAZ. Motorway use 60 -65 mph, otherwise Cornish lanes. Load doesn't seem to make much difference - but 70 mph does!

Re: jump leads
Sorry, Rob, I should have said that it is a good quality standard car battery. I don't use proper leisure batteries on car or boat because of their limitations. After many years motoring I have learnt never to trust completely anything electrical or mechanical, nor to rely on anything being 'idiot p...

jump leads
One for you electrical buffs. Van is fitted with AAZ and normal alternator - 85amp? I make a habit of carrying jump leads just in case, for me or whoever else needs them. In my case the two batteries, main and leisure, are fitted side by side in the engine compartment, the positive terminals being a...

Re: What Portable toilet have you got and how to make box cover?
I bought a large plastic box with a lid from Staples. Porta Potti fits in that, together with necessary chemicals and space tp spare. can be lifted about then without fear of spills. We carry it under way behind the back seat over the engine, together with the tent awning etc. In use we take it out ...

AAZ Diesel Return Feed
Hi there, I wonder if anyone else suffers from this problem - in any case it may be useful information to some. About once a year mine won't start from cold in morning. Heater plugs OK and it was running perfectly the night before. Engine turns over fine, plenty of battery life. Removing the diesel ...

heater hoses
I am going to have to replace the two long rubber hoses which run front to back on my 1990 T.25. The original engine was a 1600 deisel but it has been replaced with an AAZ, though it looks as if the original hoses for cooling and heating were retained. What sort of a job is it? Seen from underneath ...

Re: Knackered Alternator?
Thanks, Alex. I ordered from Maplin using the link you suggested but was confused by the reverse charge voltage quoted. Your other comments noted with interest. I think a new alternaator is in order.

Re: Knackered Alternator?
Back again fellahs. Finally got round to diving into the dashboard again (twice) and fitted new red LED from Maplins into the charging light slot. It now works, comes on to start with, goes out when engine starts and stays off for a while. Then, after about five minutes, it starts to flicker faintly...

Re: Knackered Alternator?
Thanks Alex and Em, Have ordered direct from Maplins. Why couldn't I find them. Blame senility. Will let everyone know what happens. Van charging OK now, all lights working - except Charging and Main Beam! Charging is blown - I helped it I think. Main beam was working before I took the dash out last...

Re: Knackered Alternator?
Hi, Ghost, Sorry to be a pain in the neck when you have been so helpful. These LEDs. Mine are a little colored bulb with two legs sticking out like pins. They are quite long, about 7mm (I measured one) and on each LED one 'pin' has a kink in it, presumably to tell negative from positive if you know ...

Re: Knackered Alternator?
Fixed it - and many thanks to all those who helped. For anyone's benefit this is what happened. I finally decided to have another look at the brush set and took it out - it is one of those with the regulator combined. Brushes undoubtedly OK so I took a torch and peered down the hole from which the s...
