Re: Turning mt t25 into a 5 seater?!

Westfalia did a middle seat for the Joker model and you could replicate this by using a middle 2 seater from a Caravelle. What do you do with those when you arrive and are camping? Pull them out maybe and use them to sit on in the awning? I used to do that with my Multivan that I fitted a middle Ca...

Re: Decent make of starter motor with a solenoid that works

If you have a standard figment Bosch, take it to your local specialist and have it rebuilt, as I had the same problem and it only cost me £85 versus £280 for a new Bosch one. I’d also check all your cabling from the battery to the starter, ignition switch to starter and alternator to starter, as the...

Re: 2.0 CU Air Cooled Exhaust Studs

Hello, A good clean would do no harm.. When you remove the pushrod tubes, make sure the 'wongly' spring is there to hold the pushrods in place. You will of course be fitting new black and green pushrod oil seals Air-Cooled Bliss.. 8) Cordialement, :ok I can’t be blamed for the very manky and...

Re: 2.0 CU Air Cooled Exhaust Studs

I finally got the engine out yesterday, with me swearing, huffing & puffing and the photo below shows the issue I have. The stud is there, but because of the shape of the area around the exhaust port, my stud extractor is too wide and fouling as per the witness marks on the head :| https://i.pos...

Re: 2.0 CU Air Cooled Exhaust Studs

I have done a fair bit of stud remnant removal recently. (but not on an air cooled head) If you can get a drill in, then it is possible. To make life easier, get yourself some cobalt drills. They make a huge difference, start at 3mm and move up, expanding the hole until you can pick out the remnant...

2.0 CU Air Cooled Exhaust Studs

When I bought my van, it was a tad noisy and put it down to a rotten exhaust, but after much investigation, found the right hand heat exchanger to be bust and after removing all related exhaust bits, I am left with a couple of snapped stud stems that my stud extractor won’t work on; therefore, is th...

A couple of half moon shaped pieces of metal to suit the shape of the indent and squeeze the whole lot in a big vice does the trick :D

Re: 1981 Aircooled Westy to Subaru EJ25 Conversion

With the Aircooled DK 4 speed box it has to move backwards by 60mm with the RJES conversion, so you have to extend the gear linkage, a kit is available from RJES with everything you need. It involves marking, cutting, fitting an extension tube and welding it all up, obviously keeping it all in line...

Try this thread for guidance as to the Multivan bed https://club8090.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=38&t=63060 There are two types; The one shown in thread above and the other which fixes to the floor rather than the side panels. This thread might provide more info too https://club8090.co.uk/forum...
