Re: Pierburg 2e3 rebuild
Just fitted carb kit, put on a new OEM vacuum unit and refitted the carb. Stupidly, I didn't measure the new vac unit linkage against that removed. Carb now fitted, the unconnected new linkage ball socket sits 10mm below the ball connector which I think is too low. My understanding is that the throt...

Re: Pierburg 2e3 rebuild
Thanks. Does it matter which direction the restrictor faces?

Re: Fuel flow DG1.9
Thanks. While waiting on delivery of a carb part, I changed the fuel filter. I see there is an air pocket in the filter, perhaps 10% volume. I see if its moving when another pair of eyes show up.

Fuel flow DG1.9
Gents, if the carb is removed from the van and the engine is turned over, operating the mechanical fuel pump, should i expect to see fuel being delivered from the hanging-loose fuel inlet pipe or is there some sort of syphonic action that requires the fuel flow 'circuit' to be complete?
Thanks
Thanks

Re: Pierburg 2e3 rebuild
Reading other posts re choke pull down restrictor (that tiny thing that sits in the vac pipe) and that it should be located in the end of the pipe closest to the choke pull down unit. if so does restrictor insert into the vac pipe fat end first or does it make any difference? I think my old vac pipe...

Re: Pierburg 2e3 rebuild
I've never taken it above 60, always seemed there was a bit more under foot though. Up decent hills, yes it flags badly and downshifts have to be planned well in advance. That said, it went up the steep side of Bealach na Ba (1st gear hairpins mind) in May when doing the North Coast 500.

Re: Pierburg 2e3 rebuild
Blimey, this might mean the offside indicator will get some use. There was quite a bit of blackening inside that barrel where it met the brass flap, looks to have been unmoved for quite some time, certainly before my ownership.

Re: Pierburg 2e3 rebuild
Almost 3 decades of clag removed, ozone layer a bit thinner over Exeter right now. I knew the choke pull down vacuum was kaput, also discovered the diaphram in the other vacuum unit had gone and waiting for replacement to be delivered before refitting the carb. Aside from needing a few more revs whe...

Re: Pierburg 2e3 rebuild
Gents, is it possible to remove the float needle valve without knocking out the retaining pin and removing the float itself? there looks to be a round cutaway at the back of the float bracket that might allow for the brass cap of the needle to be pushed over with a screwdriver and the float eased up...

Pierburg 2e3 rebuild
Sunday fun day hopefully! Ive got the rebuild kit ready, photo'd the carb from all angles, tagged and labelled connections and have a nice clear space on the work bench. I've read thread after thread (thanks Itchyfeet and Kevtherev) and am ready to go. Any last minute pearls of wisdom from carb rebu...

Tips for fitting new grease cap
Speedo stopped working a while back and due to the square hole on the grease cap rounding off. I hammered it out once and got a few more miles out of it but it looks like it's a gonner now. Got the replacement part but it seems the new cap is really tight. I reckon it would only fit with a really go...

Re: MOT emission fail dilemma
Our first time there and we had a blast. Really saw that Glasto spirit yesterday when stuck in the campervan west field. Watching the older rwd vans going for it alone to get out of the field, tearing downhill in an effort to get up enough speed to get up the other side, then folks running along sid...
