HI, My washers were not working prior to the last MOT. All the electrics were ok so I pulled the motor out of the washer bottle and turned it a few times with a pair of long nose pliers to free it up and now its working fine. I think sometimes the motors seizes up or gets gummed up from lack of use....

Mine was from just kampers so prob not genuine. I have some oil resistant gasket sealant, I'll try that at the weekend.

bigherb, you were spot on it was the throttle stop. Ive adjusted it and now the vac advance is working as it should. Its like driving a different van with the svda distributer. pulls a lot better. The base plate in the distributor
springs back freely. tHe problem seems to be that at tickover there is a vacuum present on the hose to the carb which is holding on the vac advance. At a bit of a loss now.

I will take another look tonight and see if I can see anything wrong with the carbs. Without the vacuum advance connected the timing at idle drops straight back to 8 BTDC so if there is a carb problem would that affect the amount of vacuum? Would it be worth altering the timing with the vacuum hose ...
