Re: Towbar Advise please
Useful photo that big herb. I'll keep for reference thanks.
There's always plenty of angle and box section at the workshop so would just need the ball then and there fairly cheap.

Towbar Advise please
Hi, I need to fit a towbar to the van so I can use my Cycle Carrier. On removing the rear bumper the van has this fitted. It looks like a similar style to a westfalia towbar with the swan neck removed or possibly a home made unit? It is V solid though and has a thick mounting plate welded to the bot...

Re: Where is the windscreen washer bottle?
HI, My washers were not working prior to the last MOT. All the electrics were ok so I pulled the motor out of the washer bottle and turned it a few times with a pair of long nose pliers to free it up and now its working fine. I think sometimes the motors seizes up or gets gummed up from lack of use....

Re: 1980 2l air cooled, need new fuel tank and breathers
Hi All, I completed this same job over the winter (Good used tank with the smaller filler hole + plastic filler neck and all new breather hoses/grommets) and have filled up 2 or 3 times now with no overflow whatsoever. I filled up at the weekend though and fuel started leaking out where the plastic ...

Re: 034 SVDA Distributer Timimg - 2.0 CU
bigherb, you were spot on it was the throttle stop. Ive adjusted it and now the vac advance is working as it should. Its like driving a different van with the svda distributer. pulls a lot better. Ive also ordered a carb synchrometer to balance the carbs as Im sure there out. The left hand carb thro...

Re: 034 SVDA Distributer Timimg - 2.0 CU
The base plate in the distributor
springs back freely. tHe problem seems to be that at tickover there is a vacuum present on the hose to the carb which is holding on the vac advance. At a bit of a loss now.

Re: 034 SVDA Distributer Timimg - 2.0 CU
I will take another look tonight and see if I can see anything wrong with the carbs. Without the vacuum advance connected the timing at idle drops straight back to 8 BTDC so if there is a carb problem would that affect the amount of vacuum? Would it be worth altering the timing with the vacuum hose ...

034 SVDA Distributer Timimg - 2.0 CU
Hello, Yesterday I swapped the 009 distributer which was fitted to my van when I brought it with a 034 SVDA distributor with Powerspark module. The engine is a 2.0 CU with standard Solex dual carbs. I checked the timing on the 009 before the swap and it was set to 8 BTDC at idle which corresponded t...
