thanks for the replies - while I would love a stainless steel exhaust I don't think the missus would be impressed - so it's off to GSF -

which tyres
Nexen SB700 205/70/14 - load rating of 100 - about £50 quid fitted.
Ordered mine through Blackcircles.com although there must be other places.
Could have bought 185s, 195s or 205/80s but wanted to stick to the OE sizes

There are two multivan type beds on Ebay at the moment - wonder how much they'll go for?
I would really like one of them but they seem to fetch ridiculous prices - in my opininion anyway!

air cooled heating
My 1980 devon conversion had two heat settings - fully on or totally off - neither of which was controlled by the heater controls on the dash but by the wiring open or shut of the heater flaps underneath the van. Further control could be gained in the summer by using duck tape to block off the vents...

The connector you want is plain white and sits up underneath the dash, close to the steering column and behind the clocks - nowhere near the fusebox. The connector is best found by turning oneself upside down with your head in the footwell and then looking up - it disconnects with a careful pull. Th...

curtains
Velcro - the self adhesive sort - stick a small square into each corner of your home made curtains and attach to similar squares stuck onto windows/headlining,etc. Took my missus an hour to sew the curtains and me about two hours to stick the velcro in the right places - bet you could do it quicker!...
